When I started searching for a doula, I knew within a few minutes of meeting Kendal that her warmth, kindness, and support would be invaluable to me during my labour. As a first time mother with no local family for support, I knew having a doula would be important both for myself and my husband. She took away some of the fear surrounding birth in our prenatal sessions and provided up to date advice and techniques to help the birth go as smoothly as possible. She remained calm throughout my labour, and provided amazing support when my labour took some unexpected directions. She also took amazing photos of our first moments together as a family of three. A beautiful soul who has found her calling, a woman helping another woman through a life changing process. Do not hesitate to hire Kendal to support you and your family! - Sarah N.
It was after some debate that my husband and I decided to hire a doula for our first birth in 2017. We had done a good amount of reading and taken prenatal classes. He felt at first that we would be fine on our own but was eventually convinced that the extra expertise would be worth it (this was something that neither if had ever experienced after all!) In hindsight we both agreed that it was without an ounce of doubt the right decision to bring Kendal into our birthing team. It is so true that Kendal has found her calling. From day one she had just the right friendly yet professional approach. She was very willing to answer questions I had or speak to concerns. Her presence, guidance and just the increased confidence she brought to our process was invaluable. I had a few evenings of labour and then a fairly intense day, plus a complication which I knew nothing about despite my research but that Kendal was perfectly suited to help with (meconium staining). If I recall correctly, one of the first things I had to say after the experience was that Kendal was worth her weight in gold. We, aling with our midwives, were very impressed. To boot, she took stunning photos for us. Thank you Kendal!! - Marnie N.
If anyone is looking for a doula and/or incredible birth photographer (maternity/birth/newborn) I highly recommend this talented and soulful woman who is a genius at creating a sacred and heart-centered space, putting her clients at ease to capture those fleeting magical moments that create the most breathtaking photographic memories. I still look at our pictures every day and get to savor and relive those precious moments... especially at such a powerful transitional time in my life. Thanks again Kendal for your generosity and gift. Best investment I ever made. - Christine B.
Kendal has definitely found her calling as a doula and birth photographer, and it was so special to be cared for by her throughout my wife's pregnancy and birth. She is very educated, but maintains a warmth and calm that put us at ease when experiencing some of the most stressful and scary moments both pre- and post-natally. My wife and I both struggle with anxiety and Kendal was so wonderful in talking to us about how that might play out during birth, and helped us formulate a plan as to how we would most feel supported through anxious moments. She was available for all the trivial litlle questions and concerns, and invaluable during the biggest fears I had, while trying to care for our new baby and help my wife recouperrate from her post-partum hemorrhage. She listened, made suggestions, and reassured me through some of my darkest moments. She held space for us in a way I've never experienced, and I think it helped us feel safe and loved in our most vulnerable and raw times. Kendal is one of the most empathetic people I've ever met. She has such a big heart and love for birthing women and babies, and is so good at making people feel as if they have known her for years. This is so important during birth because you really don't have time for pleasantries, and need someone who will just take charge and do what needs to be done. Kendal helped with postions for my wife, set up the birth pool, managed to keep us both hydrated, took photos, herded our cats, fed us afterwards, provided helpful tools for healing and so much good advice. She also cleaned up the whole mess after our home birth! And I haven't even mentioned her photos yet! She has such a unique eye and takes some truly spectacular photos of the biggest moment in your life. She finds a way to make the grossest things look beautiful and finds the quiet, special moment among the chaos. I can't recommend Kendal enough. She is a gift to new families. - Jackie D.
Kendal was a phenomenal doula! It was amazing that she was able to be in five places at once, taking care of my needs as a birthing mother as well as my wife's needs during the birth. She was very supportive during our prenatal visits and listened and took time to understand my anxieties and helped create a plan so I could feel as safe as possible during the birth. She is obviously very well educated on a wide variety of subjects regarding birth and is also very passionate. She genuinely cares for all her clients and I would gladly recommend Kendal to anyone who is interested in having a doula. She will go above and beyond for her families to ensure they feel well cared for and have the birth they envisioned. - Angie D.
Kendal was our doula and photographer for my second pregnancy. My first was born by emergency c-section and I was very hopeful for a vbac. As soon as we met Kendal, we knew she would be a wonderful help to us. She is so warm, caring, and open, and we were immediately at ease with her. She took beautiful maternity/family photos before I gave birth. I ended up going quite far beyond my due date, and was becoming nervous that my vbac would not be successful (my first was over 10lbs and I had been told the later I went the less chance of success I had). Kendal was very proactive about checking in with me, and so responsive to my concerns. She offered so much support and wisdom to get me through. She also came over after my due date to try and help ready my body for birth. I had a full week of pre-labour, and again Kendal was such a source of support. When I did finally go into labour, Kendal was so helpful for both me and my husband. She tended to and encouraged me through a very intense labour, and helped my husband with ways he could support me as well. She helped me navigate my labour in the way we had discussed, but was always open and supportive to what I wanted in the moment. When it came time to push, I tried a few things before Kendal made a suggestion that worked better than anything else I had tried. In the end, I got my vbac. Kendal helped me handle all of my fears and doubts so I could have the experience I wanted. She also took wonderful photos of the birth and of our newborn. We can't say enough about how she helped us. I wouldn't want to do it again without her! - Kelly G.
Kendal was my doula for the birth of my daughter in may 2015. When I first met Kendal, we hugged. It was comfortable, easy, and lovely from the start. It felt right. She is that type of person. You just feel like giving her a hug. I told Kendal how I was terrified and slightly grossed out by the thought of childbirth. She handled my fears with respect and care, and helped me to feel brave and competent. She was the perfect blend of clinical and hippie crunchy. Kendal was the first person I called when my water broke. Even before my baby's father. That says something! I ended up having to have a c section, but Kendal was a source of calm for myself and my husband during the scary moments. She stayed as long as we needed. Kendal made herself available for me and I felt she always was present and attentive whenever we talked. My family agreed that Kendal was amazing, and I know she was born to be a doula. I trust that anyone who involves Kendal in their birth story will have as wonderful an experience as I did. And I'm sure you will want to give her a hug too!? - Amy E.
Kendal was a wonderful support at the birth of my daughter. I had an intense and difficult labour which had me up and down on a roller coaster. In the end her words of support and encouragement gave me focus amongst the chaos and background noise. Her steadiness and skills were incredibly reassuring. I honestly believe her true calling is that of a doula and she does it so incredibly well. - Andrea B.
